State of Maryland
 | The AT crosses over the Potomac River via the 600 foot long Goodloe Byron Memorial Pedestrian Walkway. | .
| On the other side of the walkway I am in the state of Maryland and on the C & O Canal towpath trail of which George Washington himself once rode his horse here. |  |
