Appalachian Trail... photos and journal

Spring of 2002... In the upper south...

(Page 7 of 7 pages)

.
For a Sunday afternoon Harper's Ferry was filling up with people and I really wasn't in a hurry to get out of town.

Colonial dress was everywhere on the streets.

.
The Appalachian Trail followed the brick road right to the edge of town.

A pleasant town with a very historic flavor, Harper's Ferry is largely dominated by a national historic park.

State of Maryland

.
The AT crosses over the Potomac River via the 600 foot long Goodloe Byron Memorial Pedestrian Walkway.

On the other side of the walkway I am in the state of Maryland and on the C & O Canal towpath trail of which George Washington himself once rode his horse here.
